The 9 / 21 EMA + VWAP Strategy
Momentum from the 9, trend from the 21, control from the VWAP — read them in order and only trade what they agree on.
The Build
Three Lines, Three Jobs
Each EMA / VWAP layer has one responsibility. Let them do it.
9 EMA
Momentum
The fast line. Short-term acceleration — the first to react and the first to signal a shift.
21 EMA
Trend
The trend line. In a clean move, price should hold above (bulls) or below (bears) this level.
VWAP
Control
Who owns today's session. Above and the buyers run it — below and the sellers do.
Bullish Signals to Detect
Buyers in control.
- Price above VWAP — buyers in control
- 9 EMA above 21 EMA — bullish momentum
- Pullback holds the 9 or 21 EMA — trend intact
- VWAP reclaimed and held — possible upside continuation
- Higher low with rising volume — stronger call setup
Bearish Signals to Detect
Sellers in control.
- Price below VWAP — sellers in control
- 9 EMA below 21 EMA — bearish momentum
- Rally rejects the 9 or 21 EMA — weakness remains
- VWAP rejection — possible downside continuation
- Lower high with selling volume — stronger put setup
